John P. Vespa is running for Circuit Judge in the Tenth Judicial Circuit. On February 2, 2010 John won the Republican primary and now faces an opponent in the General Election on November 2, 2010. He is running for the seat being vacated by the retirement of his oldest brother, Judge Joe Vespa. The Tenth Judicial Circuit is comprised of Marshall, Peoria, Putnam, Stark and Tazewell counties.John's 17 years of practice has been equal parts civil and criminal law, with very extensive trial experience in both. John makes his living in the courtroom, and has personallyconducted over 100 jury trials. John is a former police officer- the only candidate who has applied criminal law both on the streets and in the courtroom.
John has served his community extensively. He was one of the founding members of the Peoria County Bar Association's Legal Assistance to MilitaryPeople (LAMP) program, and continues to provide free legal services to active duty military families. He has also served the Special Olympics, American Legion, the Center For Prevention Of Abuse, and DARE.
John has been a team sponsor and coach of multiple soccer, baseball and basketball teams for the Peoria Park District and the Christian Center.
John has the experience, temperament and values to effectively make decisions that are fair and uphold the standards of the law. It is critical that we elect high quality individuals to preside over our courts. Please help us spread the word.
